As you go about your day, ticking off items on your to-do list, you may feel a rush of accomplishment and pride. But how long does that feeling last? Does your level of satisfaction and fulfillment reset the next day?
When you look at the past week, month, or year, have you accomplished what your heart truly desires?
If your daily tasks, meetings, and events aren’t aligned with what is important to you, your feelings of accomplishment and pride will be fleeting and shallow. Don’t live someone else’s life at the cost of your own. Make sure your belief system is show up on your calendar.
Four steps to align your values and calendar
Step 1: Assessment
Complete a values assessment to identify the values you most care about. You can do that at This assessment center. Values are the software of the soul. They are not permanent and yet they do not change all that much in our lives. They provide us with our internal compass of what you believe in. They allow you to point to true north when you may be lost in the woods. All the great writers of our time speak of in the middle of your life coming to a place in the woods where it is dark and it is not clear which way to go. Knowing your values will help illuminate this path regardless of the stage of life you are in. You should feel very special to be on of the few people to have this level of clarity on the values that are core to you and the priority you give them in your life.
Step 2: Review Schedule
Review your current schedule and determine which tasks, meetings, or events are aligned with those beliefs.
Step 3: Identify Gap
For the items that don’t align , decide which can be removed from your life. Take the necessary steps and measures to remove them.
Step 4: Reschedule Future
Decide which activities need to be added to live out your most important values and schedule them.
You will be amazed at how much more energy you’ll have and how much more fulfilled you’ll feel.
